Carpenter Bus Sales ("Carpenter Bus," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through carpenterbus.com and through the phone, text, and email we use to communicate with you, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It does not cover other websites we link to.

We aim to describe what we actually do, in language you can read. If anything is unclear, call us at (800) 370-6180.

We collect the categories of personal information below for the purposes shown. "Sold or shared" uses the meaning given by the California Consumer Privacy Act, where disclosing information to an advertising partner counts as sharing, and disclosing it in exchange for anything of value counts as a sale, even when no money changes hands.

We do not collect biometric information, protected classification characteristics, education records, or sensitive personal information such as Social Security or financial account numbers through this website.

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we never sell or share the information of anyone we know to be under 16. If we become aware that a user is under 16, we will not sell or share their information without first obtaining the required opt-in consent (from a parent or guardian for users under 13, or from the user if between 13 and 16).

You provide information when you fill out a contact, quote, or rental form; download a guide or request pricing; or call, text, or email us. Financing is handled through a printable PDF application you download, complete, and return; there is no financing form on this website. We do not sell parts on this website; we link to our separate store at carpenterbusparts.com, which has its own privacy policy. What you give us on this site typically includes your name, organization, contact details, location, and the details of your request. We may also receive information about you or your organization from third-party sources, such as the IP-identification services described in Section 3.

When you visit, some information is collected through cookies and similar technologies: your IP address and the approximate location from it, your browser and device, the pages and buses you viewed, how far you scrolled and how long you stayed, and how you arrived at our site.

Almost none of this happens until you allow it. Only the cookies strictly necessary to make the site work run before you choose. Everything else waits for your consent. See Section 5.

If you accept analytics cookies, we use services that read your IP address and match it against a commercial database to identify the organization you are visiting from. These services can tell us the name, size, and location of that organization, and sometimes the names and roles of people who work there.

In plain terms: if you visit us from your workplace and accept analytics cookies, we may learn where you work even if you never told us. These services do not run unless you accept analytics cookies, and because the companies behind them use the information for their own purposes, this counts as selling or sharing your information under state law. You can decline it (see Section 6), and if you take no action, it does not happen.

Calls. Calls to our main line, (800) 370-6180, are not recorded. Once you are a customer in our CRM system, calls to or from you through that system are recorded for quality and training. You will hear a notice before the call begins, and if you would rather not be recorded, tell the representative or reach us by email.

Text messages. We only text people who ask us to. When you give us your number and check the box on one of our forms, we may text you to follow up. Every new contact is set to receive no texts unless that box was checked. Reply STOP at any time to end them. We never share your number or your consent with anyone for their own marketing.

Email. If you contact us, you may receive follow up and marketing emails. Every message has an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out whenever you want.

We group the tools on our site into four kinds:

• • Strictly necessary, which keep the site working and secure. These always run.
• • Functional, which remember things like the buses you saved.
• • Analytics, which show us how the site is used.
• • Advertising, which measure our ads, reach people who may need a bus, and include the organization-identification services in Section 3.

Functional, analytics, and advertising cookies are off by default and do not run until you turn them on. When you first visit, a banner asks what you are comfortable with. You can accept all, reject everything except what is necessary, or choose category by category. This is the same for everyone, wherever you live. Rejecting the non-essential cookies does not stop you from browsing, submitting a form, or contacting us.

You can change your choice at any time through the Your Privacy Choices link at the bottom of every page, which includes an Open Cookie Preferences control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honor it automatically as a request to opt out of sale and sharing, without your needing to touch the banner.

Companies that work for us. Our website developer, our customer management and messaging system, our email and text providers, and our analytics providers. They may use your information only to do their job for us.

Advertising partners. If you accept advertising cookies, information about your visit goes to advertising and identification services so we can measure our ads and understand our audience. Under California and several other state laws, this counts as selling or sharing, and you can opt out.

When you ask us to. For example, forwarding a financing application to a lender or a warranty claim to a manufacturer.

When the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our customers, our company, and others. And in connection with a sale or merger of the business.

In the past twelve months we shared identifiers, internet activity, geolocation, professional information, and inferences with advertising partners, for visitors who accepted advertising cookies. We did not share the other categories, and we did not sell anything for money.

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to tell you what we have collected about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, or stop selling or sharing it for advertising. You can also opt out of advertising by clicking the “Your Privacy Choices” link at the bottom of our website, or through the cookie choices in the ways described in Section 5. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email [email protected] or call (800) 370-6180. We will confirm your identity using information we already have, and respond within the time the law allows, usually 45 days. You may use an authorized agent, we may require the agent to provide signed written authorization or a valid power of attorney, and we may verify your identity directly. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response. We will respond to your appeal within 60 days, and if we deny your appeal, we will explain how to contact the California Privacy Protection Agency to submit a complaint.

We keep your information for as long as we need it to serve you and to meet our tax, warranty, accounting, and legal obligations, and then we delete or de-identify it. Generally, we retain customer records and commercial information for seven years after your last transaction for tax and warranty purposes; internet activity and analytics data for 14 months; recorded calls for 12 months; and contact form submissions for three years unless you become a customer. The actual period may vary depending on the nature of the information and our relationship with you.

We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.

Our site and services are meant for organizations, not children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We link to other websites, including our own parts store at carpenterbusparts.com, and manufacturer and financing partner sites. These have their own privacy policies, and this one does not cover them. Review their policies before sharing information with them.

If we update this policy, we will change the date above, and for significant changes we will post a notice on this page.
