L.A. West Ford Transit Series Shuttle Buses

In most states, you do not need a CDL to drive any vehicle that carries 15 total passengers or less. However, some states have stricter requirements. Always check with your local DMV for CDL licensing requirements.

The portal door is an outswing-style entry door exclusive to L.A. West vehicles. It provides a wide 36" x 76" opening, an 11-inch entry step height, and an exclusive cam-lock closure for a secure, rattle-free seal. The design makes boarding and exiting fast and comfortable for every passenger.

The L.A. West conversion adds the European-style portal door, diamond-stitched upholstery with contrasting thread, OEM-style molded headliner and sidewall trim, blue LED aisle lighting, USB ports at every row, Altro commercial-grade flooring, an upholstered rear luggage wall with shelf, carpeted sidewalls and seat pedestals, and aluminum styled wheels. It transforms a standard commercial van into a luxury shuttle.

Both vehicles offer the same L.A. West luxury interior build quality and portal door technology. The Sprinter offers more floorplan variety (6 to 19 passengers across three sub-models), individually ducted A/C and heat, and the Mercedes-Benz brand cachet. The Transit offers a lower acquisition cost, Ford's extensive parts and service network, and standard features like USB ports and diamond-stitched upholstery that are options on other platforms.

The ProMaster is optimized for maximum luggage capacity (75 cu ft vs. a standard rear luggage area on the Transit) and features stadium seating with an elevated floor system. The Transit seats up to 15 passengers (vs. 14 on the ProMaster), offers USB charging at every row as standard, and rides on the widely serviced Ford platform.
