Every new bus from Carpenter Bus Sales comes with its own warranty on top of the manufacturer's warranty. For churches, ministries, and senior care communities, that warranty lasts 8 years with no mileage limit, at no extra cost.

Most other dealers we looked at simply pass along the manufacturer's warranty. Some also sell extended plans.

One more thing worth knowing: a bus manufacturer's warranty usually covers just the body, meaning the passenger area built on top of the chassis.

Who qualifies for PlatinumCare

PlatinumCare is for churches, ministries, and senior care communities, and it comes at no cost on every new bus they buy. It isn't available to other organization types. Adult day cares do not qualify, and other buyers, including shuttle operators, tour and charter companies, schools, and dealers, receive SilverCare free and can upgrade to GoldCare.

Who provides the warranty

Carpenter Bus Sales offers this warranty to its customers through New Global Administrators, LLC, a third party warranty administrator. Carpenter Bus Sales sets it up when you buy, and its warranty department is your first call when something needs repair.

How a repair works

Your warranty begins on the day of purchase or the official in-service date. It runs alongside the factory warranty and continues after the factory coverage ends. If something covered breaks, call the Carpenter Bus Sales warranty department at (615) 477-6765 before any work begins. Have the VIN, the current mileage and photos of the problem ready, which is what gets a claim approved fastest. Once the repair is approved, take the bus to a qualified shop near you and pay the $100 deductible. The approved parts and labor are paid directly to the shop. Routine maintenance and wear items, like wiper blades, filters and fluids, aren't covered.

Chassis problems work differently. If the issue is covered by the Ford or Chevrolet chassis warranty, you can go straight to a chassis dealership without pre-approval from Carpenter Bus Sales. Anything on the conversion, meaning the bus body and what's inside it, goes through the warranty department first.

When you can add coverage

Warranty levels are set at the time of sale. The GoldCare upgrade has to be added when you buy the bus, so it's worth deciding before you sign rather than after delivery.

Whichever brand you choose. Carpenter Bus Sales sells new buses from Starcraft, Glaval, Collins, Forest River, L.A. West and ADA Boy. Each bus keeps its own manufacturer's warranty, and the Carpenter Bus Sales warranty comes on top of it. PlatinumCare applies to every brand for qualifying buyers.

Who covers what on a bus

A bus is really two vehicles in one: a chassis from one company, with a body built on top by another. Each comes with its own warranty, so it helps to know who covers what.

The chassis warranty

The chassis maker, such as Ford, Chevrolet, Ram or Freightliner, covers the frame, engine, transmission and drivetrain. This coverage comes from the chassis maker, not the bus dealer.

The body warranty

The body builder, such as Glaval, Starcraft or Collins, covers what it adds: the body structure, floor, windows, interior and wiring. A body warranty covers the body. It doesn't cover the engine or transmission.

Coverage from the dealer

Some dealers offer coverage beyond the manufacturers' warranties. It may be backed by the dealer itself or provided through a third party administrator. Carpenter Bus Sales provides its coverage through New Global Administrators, LLC. Whoever provides it, ask for the written terms, including who approves repairs and who pays the shop.

Extended plans for purchase

Many dealers also sell extended plans, sometimes called extended warranties. Each one has its own price, terms, deductible and exclusions, so read the contract before you buy.

National Bus Sales publishes a clear, specific term: a 30-day bumper-to-bumper warranty on the majority of our buses, under its Quality Guarantee.[2] It also sells extended warranties for up to 5 years covering the engine, transmission, differentials, turbo and aftertreatment.[2] On activity buses, it lists a 2-year drivetrain warranty.[14] With Carpenter Bus Sales, every new bus comes with at least 5 years or 60,000 miles of whole vehicle coverage at no cost, and churches, ministries, and senior care communities get 8 years with no mileage limit.

TESCO warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Dealer, Oregon, Ohio

TESCO's support page says All of TESCO's new buses come with a full warranty, without giving a length, mileage limit or what's covered.[3] Its terms of sale say warranties issued by a manufacturer, supplier or alterer are solely theirs, and that used vehicles are sold as is and not expressly warranted or guaranteed by TESCO.[4] For used buses, TESCO's FAQ describes extended warranty options through Guardian Warranty Corporation.[15] Carpenter Bus Sales publishes the length, mileage, coverage, deductible and eligibility for each of its coverage levels.

Master's Transportation warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Dealer, Belton, Missouri

Master's Transportation doesn't publish added coverage for new buses on the pages we viewed. Its certified pre-owned program, called reMastered, is described on its website as including a 24-month, 50,000-mile powertrain warranty along with guaranteed tread and brake life.[5] The company's site terms say vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise stated.[16] Carpenter Bus Sales offers 5 to 8 years of coverage on new buses, depending on the level, and an optional third-party service contract on used buses.

Model 1 warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Dealer, national

Model 1's FAQ says that for new vehicles it gives customers copies of the manufacturer's warranties, and that All warranties relating to the vehicle would be from the manufacturer.[10] Its sales terms say the vehicle is sold AS-IS with no dealer guarantee or warranty, apart from a limited service warranty on work Model 1 performs.[8] Model 1 registers warranties for customers and handles defect and recall repairs with the manufacturer.[9] With Carpenter Bus Sales, every new bus also comes with its own warranty on top of the manufacturer's.

Hudson Bus Sales warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Hudson Bus Sales publishes claims help rather than its own coverage term. Its warranty repair request page says The manufacturer will only cover parts and labor according to their warranty guidelines, and that the customer pays any amount the manufacturer doesn't approve.[6] The company notes that extended warranty plans are available for new and pre-owned buses, without publishing their terms.[7] With Carpenter Bus Sales, you call its warranty department, and approved repairs under PlatinumCare and GoldCare are paid directly to the shop after a $100 deductible.

Best Bus Sales warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Best Bus Sales publishes the Glaval Bus limited warranty on its website, which covers the bus body for 5 years or 100,000 miles and carries over to later owners.[11] That coverage comes from Glaval, the body manufacturer. No added coverage from Best Bus Sales was found on the pages we viewed as of September 16, 2026. Carpenter Bus Sales also sells Glaval buses, and each new Glaval it sells comes with the Glaval body warranty plus the Carpenter Bus Sales warranty.

Midwest Transit Equipment warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Dealer, Kankakee, Illinois

Midwest Transit Equipment describes a program called MTE CARE, presented as warranty and claims support across the chassis, body, lift and accessories.[12] No coverage length or mileage limit of its own was found on the pages we viewed as of September 16, 2026. Carpenter Bus Sales spells out, before you buy, how long each coverage level lasts, how many miles it covers and who qualifies.

Sawyers Bus Sales warranty vs. Carpenter Bus Sales

Dealer, Christiansburg, Virginia

Sawyers Bus Sales sells used motorcoaches, mini buses and trolleys, and builds bus conversions.[13] No warranty details were found on Sawyers Bus Sales' website as of September 16, 2026. The Carpenter Bus Sales warranty applies to new buses, so if you're comparing used buses, the next section is the one to read.

Used bus coverage

Used buses work differently everywhere. A used bus may still have some of its factory warranty left, depending on its age and mileage, and most dealers offer an optional plan from a third party.

Carpenter Bus Sales. Used buses don't come with the Carpenter Bus Sales warranty, though any remaining factory warranty still applies. Carpenter Bus Sales also offers an optional third-party vehicle service contract available for purchase, administered by New Global Administrators, LLC and insured by Plateau Casualty Insurance Company. It covers the internal lubricated parts of the engine, transmission and drive axle for 12 months or 12,000 miles, with a $100 deductible per visit. Buses 10 years old or newer with 100,000 miles or less qualify, and any used buyer can purchase it.

TESCO. Used vehicles are sold as is and not expressly warranted or guaranteed under the company's terms of sale, and extended warranty options are described through Guardian Warranty Corporation.[4][15]

How to compare bus warranties

A short checklist for church committees, ministry leaders and senior living teams comparing quotes from more than one dealer.

  1. Ask who provides the coverage Is it the dealer, the body manufacturer, the chassis manufacturer or a third party administrator? Each one pays for different repairs and answers a different phone number.
  2. Separate the body from the chassis A long body warranty doesn't cover the engine or transmission. Ask for the length and mileage on each part of the bus, in writing.
  3. Check the mileage limit against how you really drive A 100,000 mile limit and no mileage limit are very different for a congregation that runs routes several times a week.
  4. Make sure you qualify Some coverage is only for certain kinds of organizations. Ask whether your church, ministry or senior living community is eligible before you compare prices.
  5. Ask about the deductible Per claim and per visit aren't the same thing. Neither is a deductible that changes depending on where the repair happens.
  6. Find out where repairs can happen Can you use a qualified shop near you, or do you have to bring the bus back to the dealer? And who pays the shop?
  7. Ask whether coverage transfers If you sell or donate the bus later, coverage that transfers can add value. Get the transfer terms in writing.
  8. Read the exclusions Routine maintenance and wear items are usually excluded. Ask specifically about air conditioning, wheelchair lifts and electrical parts, which are common repairs on shuttle buses.
  9. Ask for the actual document A sales page is a summary. Ask for the warranty or service contract before you sign, and make sure the coverage you were told about is in it.

It depends on which part of the bus. Body builders commonly publish 5 year or 100,000 mile warranties on the body. Chassis makers cover the engine, transmission and drivetrain separately, often for 3 years or 36,000 miles on the powertrain. The Carpenter Bus Sales warranty on new buses runs from 5 to 8 years, depending on the level.

Does a bus warranty cover the engine and transmission?

Not always. A manufacturer's body warranty covers the body, not the engine or transmission, which the chassis maker covers for its own term. All three Carpenter Bus Sales warranty levels cover the entire vehicle, bumper to bumper. Routine maintenance and wear items are the exception.
