Church Buses for
West Virginia Congregations

• PlatinumCare Included: New church buses get 8 years, unlimited miles, bumper-to-bumper coverage, free.

• Volunteers on a Class E: West Virginia's regular license is Class E. Volunteers can usually drive a bus designed for 15 or fewer people, including the driver, on it.

• Paid Drivers and Class D: West Virginia's Class D covers people employed to drive a motor vehicle. If your church pays its driver, ask the DMV whether Class D applies.

Wheelchair Accessible Buses for West Virginia Senior Care

Wheelchair Accessible Buses
for West Virginia Senior Care

• PlatinumCare Included: Senior care communities get 8 years, unlimited miles, bumper to bumper, free, and the lift is covered.

• Staff Drivers: Because your drivers are usually paid staff, check with the DMV about West Virginia's Class D license for people employed to drive.

• Bus or Wheelchair Van: Wheelchair vans fit standard parking and hold 2 to 8 wheelchair positions without a CDL. Wheelchair buses carry more people and have a center aisle.

• Walk-Away Lease Option: Many senior communities lease so they can return the bus after a few years.

Activity Buses for West Virginia Schools & Child Care

Activity Buses for West Virginia
Schools & Child Care

• Child Care Centers: West Virginia's child care center rule (78CSR1, section 22) says a vehicle carrying more than 10 passengers must be a school bus or a multifunction school activity bus (MFSAB).

• Activity Buses (MFSABs): Activity buses are built to the same federal structural standards as a yellow school bus, without the stop arm or yellow paint, so they fit that rule for trips and field outings.

• Private Schools: For athletics and adult groups, private schools can usually choose any of our shuttle buses. Check West Virginia rules before using a bus for daily routes.

• No Yellow Buses: We don't sell yellow school buses.

West Virginia Bus FAQ

West Virginia's regular license is Class E, and volunteers can usually drive a bus designed for 15 or fewer people, including the driver, on it. The DMV lists Class D for people employed to drive a motor vehicle, so ask about it if your drivers are paid. Buses designed for 16 or more people generally need a Class C or B CDL with a Passenger endorsement.

West Virginia's child care center rule (78CSR1, section 22) says a vehicle carrying more than 10 passengers must be a school bus or a multifunction school activity bus (MFSAB). It also requires a properly licensed driver, a weekly safety check on center-owned vehicles, and a phone or radio if only one adult is aboard. Activity buses are a good fit. Check the current rule before you buy.

Yes. Used inventory changes daily, and used church buses generally run $40,000 to $80,000 depending on year, mileage, and condition. A used bus keeps whatever factory warranty remains, and an optional service contract is available.

We don't sell full-size highway motorcoaches. Our buses carry up to 45 people, including the driver. Our large buses seat 31 to 45, and our L.A. West luxury executive coaches offer an upscale ride for smaller groups.

Our Franklin, Tennessee headquarters is about five and a half hours from Huntington. Most West Virginia buyers choose delivery, and we deliver to all 55 counties.

West Virginia Agencies to Know

Here's who handles what when a West Virginia organization buys and runs a bus. Rules can change, so confirm the details with each agency.

  • Licenses, Titles, and Registration: The West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issues licenses and CDLs and titles and registers buses. Your paperwork from us starts with the titling form you complete with your specialist.
  • Child Care Centers: West Virginia's child care center licensing rule is 78CSR1. Its transportation section covers vehicle type, safety checks, and restraints.
  • Inspections: The child care rule requires vehicles to be currently licensed, inspected, and insured.
  • Federal Rules: The FMCSA sets the federal CDL rules West Virginia follows, and NHTSA sets the school bus and other safety standards new buses are built to.
