Custom Solutions for Virginia Industries
Church Buses for Virginia Congregations
• PlatinumCare Included: New church buses get 8 years, unlimited miles, bumper-to-bumper coverage, free.
• Volunteer Drivers: Virginia's DMV sets the CDL line at vehicles designed to carry 16 or more occupants, including the driver, so a bus for 15 or fewer can usually be driven on a regular license.
• Plan for Inspection: Virginia requires a yearly safety inspection, and a bus bought out of state must be inspected once it's registered in Virginia.
• Financing in Your Church's Name: We almost always finance with the church itself, not individual members.
Wheelchair Accessible Buses for Virginia Senior Care
• PlatinumCare Included: Senior care communities get 8 years, unlimited miles, bumper to bumper, free, and the lift is covered.
• Bus or Wheelchair Van: Wheelchair vans fit standard parking and hold 2 to 8 wheelchair positions without a CDL. Wheelchair buses carry more people and have a center aisle.
• Heavy-Duty Lifts: Commercial lifts from Braun, Ricon, and Maxon handle up to 800 pounds.
• Walk-Away Lease Option: Many senior communities lease so they can return the bus after a few years.
Shuttle Buses for Virginia Private Schools & Child Care
• Teams and Trips: Virginia private schools buy from us most often for athletics, field trips, and activities.
• Child Day Centers: Virginia requires an extra adult besides the driver when 16 or more preschool or younger children ride.
• Wheelchair Riders: Special needs programs must carry children in wheelchairs in a vehicle with a ramp or hydraulic lift, with wheelchairs secured to the floor.
• Activity Buses Available: We can also supply activity buses (MFSABs), built to yellow school bus structural standards. We don't sell yellow school buses.
Virginia Bus Sizes and Licenses
| Bus Size | Passengers (incl. driver) | Common Uses | License Needed? |

| Medium Bus | 16 to 30 | Youth groups, campus and parking shuttles, school athletics | Generally a Class C CDL with Passenger endorsement (Class B if 26,001 lbs or more) |
| Large Bus | 31 to 45 | Large church trips, employee and event shuttles | Generally a Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement |

Yes. Virginia State Police say vehicles bought out of state must be inspected once they're registered in Virginia, with no grace period, and every Virginia-registered vehicle needs a new inspection each year.
Under 8VAC20-780-580, the vehicle must be built to carry people in a seated, enclosed area with seats attached to the floor, drivers must be 18 or older, and an extra adult must ride when 16 or more preschool or younger children are aboard. Special needs programs must use a vehicle with a ramp or hydraulic lift for children in wheelchairs. The Virginia Department of Education licenses child day centers.
Yes. Used inventory changes daily, and used church buses generally run $40,000 to $80,000 depending on year, mileage, and condition. A used bus keeps whatever factory warranty remains, and an optional service contract is available.
We don't sell full-size highway motorcoaches. Our buses carry up to 45 people, including the driver. Our large buses seat 31 to 45, and our L.A. West luxury executive coaches offer an upscale ride for smaller groups.
Virginia Agencies to Know
Here's who handles what when a Virginia organization buys and runs a bus. Rules can change, so confirm the details with each agency.
- Licenses, Titles, and Registration: The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issues licenses and CDLs and titles and registers buses. Your paperwork from us starts with the titling form you complete with your specialist.
- Safety Inspections: The Virginia State Police run the annual vehicle safety inspection program.
- Child Day Centers: The Virginia Department of Education licenses child day centers. Its transportation rules are 8VAC20-780-580 and 8VAC20-780-590.
- Federal Rules: The FMCSA sets the federal CDL rules Virginia follows, and NHTSA sets the safety standards new buses are built to.
