This sculpture contains the 60ft tall heads of 4 U.S. Presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln, carved into the side of a rock formation by sculptor Gutzon Borglum, his son and 400 other workers. The carving took almost 15 years to complete.
About 20 miles from Mount Rushmore, another sculpture is under construction, that of the Crazy Horse Memorial. Although this monument has been in production since 1948, it is far from being completed.
