The History of Shuttle Buses

The shuttle bus first made its appearance on the transportation scene in the late 1960’s or early 1970’s. With the growth of churches and organizations during that era, the need to transport groups of people began to grow as well. While school buses had been available for decades before the shuttle bus was introduced, there arose a desire for something more comfortable than the standard bench seating found in school buses. Shuttle buses are most often built on what is called a cut-a-way chassis made by Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge and others. Popular shuttle buses for sales include Starcraft, Glaval, Berkshire Buses, TransitWorks Buses and Braunability Buses, among others.

Types of Customers Who Purchase Shuttle Buses

The type of customer most likely looking for a shuttle bus for sale would be someone looking to transport a large number of people. The shuttle bus for sale, also often referred to as a used minibuses for sale, is designed to carry between 15 passengers on up to 49 passengers. Shuttle buses are most often purchased by on or off airport parking companies, transportation management companies, churches, resorts, municipalities, casinos and senior care facilities. Colleges, universities, and other private institutions often use shuttle buses to transport students. The advantages to purchasing a shuttle bus as opposed to purchasing a van have been well documented with customers citing passenger safety as the main reason.
